Floradita's, Soho

"A party without cake is just a meeting"
Julia Child

Last week the girls and I went to Floradita for my birthday meal.  It was my first time visiting but it had come highly recommended as a fun evening out... and the food is supposed to be pretty good too!

After a late arrival of our taxi we were running slightly late... We arrived just after 7.30pm, and as A unfortunately had a train to catch later that evening we sat straight down at the table - although next time I would definitely grab a cocktail in their Rum Shack Lounge (where the girls had patiently been waiting for us!)

We were politely shown to our table by the very friendly hostess - a huge white booth with a round table, perfect for catching up!  With a glass of champagne in hand the chatter around the table quickly grew as we all discussed the weeks events and enjoyed the live entertainment who were extremely good...

Being renowned for good, affordable food, Floradita also occasionally offers an 'Evening Standard Menu' with 3 course and a glass of champagne for £25.00! (the set menu is usually usually £35.00)

Champagne, breads and butter were delivered to the table, then came starter...

Being a huge ceviche fan I opted for the Peruvian Tilapio ceviche marinated in lime and chilli

V and B enjoyed the pumpkin soup with toasted flaked almonds

R opted for the ham hock terrine with baby green leaves and lime and chilli salsa....

all washed down with champagne (& wine)!

Unfortunately, I was so carried away that I forgot to take any pictures of main course! I can tell you that I opted for the chicken with cuban farofa, chipotle and chimichurri relish.  The chicken was juicy and tasty and all the flavours welded well together.  The sharing bowls of chips were very popular too!

Some of the girls went for the Cuban pork chop with sweet and sour chutney which they found to be quite tough and unfortunately tasteless, so maybe one to give a miss?  The smoked mozarella and bell pepper quasadilla, jalapenos, avocado and tomato relish was also a slight let-down, apparently it was nice, nothing special and wasn't presented as well as the other dishes...  The chicken in this case was the clear winner....

We were all reasonably full by this point and so decided dessert would consist of sampling the venue's cocktails, however the restaurant did have a little surprise for me....

We then moved onto cocktails...

Silliness...

& Dancing ensued....

...completely danced out and with the band finished we hung up our heels and called it a night!  We Uber Cab'd it home and I got into bed with a smile on my face.  Another utterly fun birthday with my girls....!

If you are looking for a fun evening out, full of music, food, cocktails and dancing then you can't go wrong with Floradita.  You can find them here  or can call them on 020 7314 4000.  Definitely worth a visit!
