So, it's February and that means that Valentines Day is just around the corner... I've never been huge into Valentines Day, February is my birth month after all and this is far superior in my eyes (Pancake Day being a close second!!). I do however think that it is a good excuse to show that special person how much you care about them.  Sometimes we all get a little caught up in life and forget to show special people how much we care, so as mushy (and you may think commercial) as it is, taking the time to make somebody feel valued and loved can only be a good thing, right?

I find it is the smallest things that make me feel valued and loved, so if you're the same then why not...

1). Set that alarm a few minutes earlier than normal and make him breakfast in bed...

2). If you leave to go to work first, leave a note and his favourite snack out so he thinks of you later in the day... (whilst he's demolishing it!)

Printable lables designed by the fabulous Izzy and Ivy Designs and available here

and for the healthy boys...

They're bound to bring a smile to his face!

3) Send a nice text during the day saying how special they are / how you are looking forward to seeing him later / send a sneak peak of later.... you get the idea!

Gifts he'll love....

1.) Personalised socks (available from the Sock Shop £3.50)

or some fun ones from the people over at Happy Socks

£8.00

2.)  A gift for you both to enjoy - Sushi Making workshop with Yo Sushi

(IWOOT currently has 59% off, hurry over to here)

3.)  If you want to really spoil him how about some cufflinks....

Mont Blanc have some that are bound to impress!

4.)  ...or for the speed inclined - a Supercar Driving Thrill Ride

£68.99 over at IWOOT

4.) Or buy yourself some new underwear... it's definitely a gift he will appreciate...!

Rosie for Autograph is my current favourite, they are beautifully made and so reasonably priced

For the girls....

I'm not into big gestures (balloons, cuddly toys, love-heart shaped food is all a no-go!!) however, a gorgeous bunch of flowers, hand-delivered by the man himself is always a winner in my eyes (I love a bunch of fresh flowers).  You could go for:

A traditional red bunch....

Vintage roses for a girlie girl...

or an eclectic romance bouquet.

Why stop at a dozen?

Nikki Tibbles & the gang at Wild at Heart do the most stunning arrangements (as above), you can find them here    (and hurry if you order before 7th February you get 20% off, just enter 'VDAY14' at the checkout)

2).  Wake her up in the morning with a cup of tea in a new Emma Bridgewater mug...

£19.95 available here

3).  You can never go wrong with Chocolate....

Hotel Chocolat has these beautiful Love Notes with a hidden message in each heart (how romantic!) £16.00

Berry Scrumptious deliver beautifully hand-made chocolate dipped strawberries
£19.99 for six plus delivery

... or Champagne!

(Waitrose currently have an offer on Laurent-Perrier Vintage at £34.99)

4).  What better way to set the tone for the evening than a flattering glow from a candle giving off a sensuous scent...
£36.00 from Molten Brown

Noir 3-Wick Candle, £70.00 from The White Company

Rose Candle Large, £55.00 from The White Company

She is sure to love one of these!

Dining...

As my birthday is so close to Valentines and involves lots of lovely nights out with various friends and family, Valentines Day itself tends to be an evening in where C cooks and we have a night just the two of us - good food, good wine and maybe some flowers does the trick!

If like us you are planning on a nice evening in, then why not set the tone when you set the table....

(I like how this one plays on my new found love of scrabble!)

(A girl can dream......!!)

If you are looking to be 'wined and dined' in a lovely restaurant somewhere then below are restaurants in London with fabulous food and settings....

Hopefully this post has given you a few ideas for Valentines, remember it's not a day for big outlandish statements and public declarations of love, just make time for your special someone doing something you both enjoy - be it a film night and takeaway or a decadent meal out.

...And if you happen to be single this Valentines then apologies for the above - for this year grab your girlfriends, don your best frock and paint the town red!  You never know who you might meet......

P.S. Check out this 'LOVE' installation in Covent Garden by the British Heart Foundation.... Now that's what I call sharing the love!!
